The Cash Store was a general store that sold, among other things, ammunition, tools, clothing, feed for stock, and groceries 〔(Metroactive Newspapers website (accessed July 2011) )〕 for the small population of Davenport and the surrounding areas. The word "cash" in the title was common at the time and indicated that it did not take credit. The building quickly developed into a restaurant.
